Terms of Service

Last updated 15 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Paul Adams trading as Dough Sorter (ABN 72 206 243 757), based in Queensland, Australia ("Dough Sorter", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using doughsorter.app or app.doughsorter.app, you agree to them.

1. The service

Dough Sorter helps freelancers get paid and keep track of their spending. Depending on your plan, you can create and email invoices, record payments, manage clients, send automatic follow-up reminders on overdue invoices, track expenses, scan receipts, log mileage, group records into gigs, set up receipt reminder emails and export year-end summaries. We may add, change or remove features over time.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding agreement. Please give us accurate information and keep your password secure. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account.

3. Free trial

New accounts get a 7-day free trial with full access, and no credit card is needed to start. When the trial ends, your account becomes read-only until you subscribe. You can still view your existing records, but you can't create new ones or send reminders.

4. Plans and payment

Dough Sorter offers these plans, in Australian dollars and including GST:

  • Everything (invoices, expenses, mileage, gigs and reports): $9.95 a month or $99 a year.
  • Dough In (invoices, clients, follow-up reminders and reports): $6.95 a month or $69.95 a year.
  • Dough Out (expenses, receipt scanning, mileage and categories): $6.95 a month or $69.95 a year.

Plans are paid in advance and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. One subscription covers your whole account, with unlimited invoices, clients and expenses. To switch between monthly and annual billing, email [email protected].

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from My Business, then Billing. When you cancel, your account becomes read-only. To make sure no further payments are taken, also cancel the recurring payment with the payment provider if you're asked to. We don't refund part-used billing periods, except where the law requires it.

6. Price changes

If we change our prices, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app before the new price applies to you.

7. Your content and responsibilities

You own the invoices, client details, expenses, receipts and other records you put into Dough Sorter. You're responsible for:

  • the accuracy of your invoices, expenses and other records, including amounts and tax;
  • your own tax, GST and record-keeping obligations;
  • having your clients' permission to store their details and send them invoices and reminders; and
  • checking the details read from scanned receipts, as automated scanning can make mistakes.

Dough Sorter keeps your records organised. It is not tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and it isn't a full bookkeeping system. Please talk to your accountant or tax adviser about your own situation.

8. Branding on emails

Invoice and reminder emails sent to your clients include a small "Sent with Dough Sorter" line. Your invoice PDFs carry only your own branding.

9. Acceptable use

Please don't use Dough Sorter to send spam, commit fraud, harass anyone, upload unlawful content, access other people's accounts, or interfere with the service. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

10. Exporting and deleting your data

You can export your invoices, clients and expenses as CSV files at any time. You can delete your account from My Business. Deleting your account is permanent, and its data can't be recovered.

11. Availability

We work to keep Dough Sorter running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and maintenance may cause short interruptions. We recommend keeping your own copies of important records, for example by exporting them regularly.

12. Our intellectual property

Dough Sorter's software, design, name and branding belong to us. You may use the service under these terms, but you may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from it.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or clients paying late, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

14. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Dough Sorter at any time. We may suspend or end your access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms. If we decide to discontinue the service, we'll give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.

15. Changes to these terms

If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Dough Sorter after that means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
